Call for Participation: Join the Technical Working Group on Trade, Industry, Finance and Investment (TIFI) Call for Participation: Join the Technical Working Group on Trade, Industry, Finance and Investment (TIFI)

The SADC Parliamentary Forum (SADC PF) is pleased to announce the establishment of a Technical Working Group (TWG) under its Standing Committee on Trade, Industry, Finance and Investment (TIFI). This initiative offers experts, institutions, and stakeholders a unique opportunity to shape policies and strategies that will advance regional trade integration, industrialization, financial cooperation, and inclusive economic development across the Southern African Development Community (SADC).

Why this matters

Since its creation on 8 September 1997 in Blantyre, Malawi, the SADC PF has worked to strengthen parliamentary participation in regional integration and governance. The TIFI Committee plays a vital role in this mission by promoting:

  • Trade Integration – removing non-tariff barriers, harmonising policies, and deepening cross-border commerce.

  • Industrial Development – implementing the SADC Industrialisation Strategy and Roadmap (2015–2063) to strengthen regional value chains.

  • Investment and Infrastructure – supporting digital integration, transport, ICT, and energy infrastructure for growth.

  • Financial Integration – harmonising fiscal policies, fighting corruption and illicit financial flows, and protecting public resources.

Through the Technical Working Group, the Forum will bring together parliamentarians, technocrats, financial institutions, academia, youth, gender advocates, and civil society to provide expert guidance, evidence-based research, and technical support for regional policy development.

Key Functions of the Technical Working Group

Members of the TWG will:

  • Provide technical assistance on SADC treaties, protocols, and charters.

  • Develop costed action plans and roadmaps for SADC Model Laws.

  • Support research, validation workshops, and parliamentary engagements.

  • Align policy work with SDGs, Agenda 2063, and SADC’s Regional Infrastructure and Industrialisation strategies.

  • Champion inclusive economic development, with a focus on women and youth participation.

  • Technical experts in trade, finance, and investment
