The meeting focused on enhancing collaboration between the SADC Secretariat and SADC PF and advancing citizen participation in the regional integration agenda. During the engagement, H.E. Magosi reaffirmed SADC’s commitment to the transformation of SADC PF into a SADC Parliament, an initiative aimed at deepening regional integration and ensuring that citizens derive tangible benefits from regional cooperation.

Both sides underscored the importance of mobilising resources and strengthening inclusive platforms to support the transformation process. The meeting also took note of progress made since the SADC Summit endorsed the transformation in Lilongwe, Malawi, in August 2021, including the amendment of the SADC Treaty which entered into force in July 2024, and the ongoing development of the Protocol establishing the SADC Parliament.

H.E. Ms Sekgoma commended the SADC Secretariat for its continued support and called for closer collaboration to strengthen institutional capacity and ensure that the envisaged SADC Parliament reflects the aspirations of citizens across the region.

The courtesy call reaffirmed the growing synergy between the SADC Secretariat and SADC PF in advancing democratic participation and the regional integration agenda.
