Meeting with House Democracy Project (HDP) team
The House Democracy Project team acknowledged the leadership role of SADC PF in various areas including election observation, normative standards setting, holding public hearings and development of Model Laws. It was explained that the Project was a bi-partisan initiative for sharing best practices between the Congress and some national parliaments across the world, some of which were in southern Africa. Common areas of interest for the two organisations include strengthening the role of Parliament in public financial management, benchmarking of Parliamentary practices and legislative strengthening.
